Who are we?

We are representatives from a number of agencies, including Essex Police, Epping Forest District Council, Essex County Council, West Essex Victim Support and the Epping Forest Primary Care Trust.
What do we have in common?
We all share a commitment to reducing Hate Crime and supporting the victims.
Why was the Panel formed?
On this website you will find details of individual agencies offering support to victims of racism or homophobia. However, it is often helpful for an agency to work with others with different expertise to help resolve the situation. This is done by means of the Hate Incidents Confidential Panel. Therefore, when a victim contacts an agency he or she is asked (but never pressed) for permission to share details with other concerned agencies. No information given to one agency will be passed on to any other agency, unless the victim has given permission.
Are we just a "talking shop" or can we really help?
Members of the Panel offer a wide range of expertise and services and can provide practical support to victims. Also, financial resources of member agencies may be pooled for preventative action against further hate incidents. Matters discussed at Panel meetings are kept strictly confidential by the member agencies.
