A person is a victim of hate crime if he or she is experiencing verbal abuse, harassment, assault or intimidation as a result of their colour, race, religion or sexuality.
If you are experiencing or witnessing incidents of hate crime, you can contact Epping Forest District Council. We have a "Code of Guidance" to ensure that these incidents are properly recorded and monitored. If you wish, an officer will be asked to investigate the matter and agree with you a course of action to resolve it.
Each case is dealt with in strict confidence and, with your permission, will be forwarded to the Epping Forest Confidential Hate Incidents Panel.
Each service area (department) of the Council has a named officer who is responsible for the recording and monitoring of hate crime incidents. Details are below.
